Educational Background & Early Achievements

Dr. Abeykoon began his educational journey at Thobegama Sri Bodhi Parakrama Vidyalaya, later moving to Kuliyapitiya Central College following his success in the Grade 5 Scholarship exam. His exceptional balance of academic rigor and athletic prowess earned him a place at Maliyadeva College. There, he achieved a rare milestone in the school’s history: receiving “Colors” for sports while simultaneously securing admission to medical school. He earned his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Ragama, graduating with a Distinction (A grade) in Internal Medicine.

Clinical Career & Specialized Training

Following an internship at Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital, Dr. Abeykoon served in Anamaduwa, where he furthered his expertise by obtaining a Postgraduate in Pediatric Nutrinos (PGPN) from Boston University, USA.

During his four-year tenure at Athugalpura District Hospital, he was instrumental in elevating the facility into a leading state hospital. Notably, he served as a Senior Emergency Medical Officer for over four years, demonstrating immense dedication during the 2018 emergency period and the COVID-19 pandemic, where he led critical PCR testing operations. In the mid-COVID era, he transferred to Dambadeniya Base Hospital to lead the Essential COVID Management Program.

Specializations & Clinical Practice

A member of the British Dermatological Association, Dr. Abeykoon is currently following their prestigious fellowship program. His clinical focus includes treating complex conditions such as:

  • Psoriasis and chronic skin disorders

  • Hormonal disorders

  • Oncology (Cancer care)

He is the founder of the Aanya Health Joint/Skin/Beauty Clinic in Uhumeeya, where he treats both local and international patients with a focus on holistic and advanced dermatological care.
